A bunch of old water bottles never looked so good!

Hello!

I am going to talk about this brand, Girlfriend, which is an ethical and size-inclusive activewear brand, with amazing products at affordable prices!

Being eco-friendly is at the top of this brand priorities, and basically all their collection is made by recycled materials such as recycled post-consumer bottles to create bras and compressive leggings, but also recycled fishing nets and other waste are utilized to make Lite leggings, while tees and tanks are 100% cupro, a delicate fiber made from waste the cotton industry leaves behind.

Not to mention that also packaging is 100% recycled and recyclable, which is cool!

When it comes to traceability and social impact the company states that textiles are made from recycled materials in a facility in Taiwan that specializes in eco-friendly and high-quality textiles, then cut-and-sewn in another SA8000 certified factory in Hanoi, Vietnam, that guarantees fair wages, safe and healthy conditions, and zero forced or child labor.

Another big plus is the size inclusivity that this brand offers, you can buy products from XXS to 6XL so really covering all different bodies and sizes so we can all feel included! I will definitely buy something, the ‘Compressive’ styles actually caught my eye, hope you get inspired too!

Sustainable sneakers

Hello! If you are looking to buy sneakers from a brand that has a strong focus on transparency, fair trade and social and environmental responsibility, you should definitely check Veja.

Veja is a French company established since 2003 and always committed to fair trading sourcing and the use of organic materials. Their journey began when the founders got in contact with another French company which was making coffee and chocolate etc working directly with producers and farmers around the world and that was an eye opener to come to realization that they could also make an innovative consumers product which would have made a positive impact on the economy.

The founders of Veja decided to focus their effort into producing sneakers and this choice is originated by results of a research showing that for this specific product traditionally in the industry 70% of cost was spent on advertising and only 30% allocated to manufacturing. These guys though it would have been smarter to cut the ads costs and put a lot more money into the manufacturing process, yet being able to keep the same retail price basically paving the way to producing goods with respect to the environment and to the people involved in the making process.

How they did it? They flew to Brazil and started working with the Seringueiros, a community living in the Amazon rain forest that operates in harmony with the surrounding environment and then they established collaboration with organic cotton producers not using fertilizers and pesticides.

As a results, natural rubber from trees and organic cotton are key materials used to produce these sneakers and long story short these are then manufactured in a factory still in Brazil and then assembled and packaged back in France, in the outskirts of Paris.

Nowadays, Veja, which by the way stands for “look” in Portuguese, produces sneakers with a new developed fabrics entirely made from recycled plastic bottles and they sell in many countries worldwide with serious commitment to keep improving in what they do.

Bikini made from recycled plastic bottles

Hello!

Recently I came across this sustainable brand for bikinis, Wolven, committed to produce garments using recycled PET fabrics.Their mission is to Make Sustainability Sexy and to fight fast fashion. I am not going to get into the details of their bikinis collection, you can see clearly by yourself that there is plenty of choices of prints and shapes. In my opinion, what really stands out is their concrete effort to save the planet. This brand, among others, participates into Cancel Plastic which is a movement committed to stopping plastic waste and funding ocean cleanup.

Every sale made, Wolven removes one pound of trash from the ocean and that is truly quantifiable and certified by the Cancel Plastic org (for more info you can visit cancelplastic.com)

I have done my smart purchase, hope you get inspired too! If you liked my post, please follow me on Facebook and Instagram by clicking on the icons below, thanks so much!
